Increase Internet Bandwidth in windows XP

Increasing Internet Bandwidth in windows XP

Windows XP by default allocates 20% of your bandwidth to Quality of Service. Which is not required for the desktop. You can remove this or reduce this value as follows:
  1. Go to Start Menu -> Run
  2. Type gpedit.msc and press [Enter] key
  3. This will open Group Policy Editor
  4. In this navigate to Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Network -> QoS Packet Scheduler
  5. Now double click on Limit Reservable Bandwidth
  6. Make this Enabled
  7. Change bandwidth limit to 0 (Zero) and click OK
Note: In case you want to allocate to some bandwidth limit to QoS then allocate very small value like 1 or 2.

Above configuration will give effective improvement in your bandwidth.
